Sulfur vent deposit

Sulfur crystallizes from hot gases venting from fumeroles associated with volcanic activity. Hot, acidic fluids and gases escaping from molten rock below the surface alter host rock around the vent, leaving behind white clay and siliceous sinter deposits, and other minerals.
